CNTR

We’re a community led and driven arts and culture space in Middletown, CT — providing access to event space, quality programs, and each other.

About CNTR

Our mission is to provide access to space, information, and quality arts/culture programs for our community. We stand at the intersection of art, culture, wellness, and we act as a vehicle for elevating the intentions and actions of our residents.

Through community-led and community-oriented gatherings, events, and workshops, we envision growth and a sense of deep belonging for our neighbors that grows out of meaningful engagement in our community. We imagine an ever-growing pride in the resilient and diverse cultures that define the city we love.

Current Project
South Street: 7 Stories

South Street: 7 Stories is a digital bridge between Middletown’s vibrant past and its present landscape. This project reconstructs the South and Sumner Streets neighborhood, a once-thriving Black and Brown community displaced by mid-century redevelopment. Through the power of augmented reality (AR) and community-led storytelling, we are bringing a lost history back to the surface.

Our Vision

By blending emerging technology with local heritage, South Street: 7 Stories restores visibility to a community erased from the physical map. This project serves as a model for how cities can use creative collaboration to honor resilience and illuminate forgotten chapters of their identity.

The digital installation remains accessible via our mobile app long after the exhibition ends, ensuring that the stories of South Street continue to inspire reflection and education.
